Here are some tips to help you maximize your time at the farmer’s market:

  1. Go early! Try to get there as early as possible to get the best selection of produce
  2. Start a conversation. Ask the farmer/producer about growing practices, how often they sell at the market, if they offer anything on non-market days, and what varieties they grow.
  3. Be a repeat customer! Find producers that sell things that your family regularly eats and try to connect with them as many weeks as you can during the season.
  4. Try something new. Many times you’ll find unique heirloom varieties that aren’t available in retail stores. Ask about the flavor profile and give them a try! You may just find something new to grow in your own garden next year.
